In the coldest grip of winter, we begin to dream of spring—imagining the warmth, the buds, the greenest grass, the scent of jonquils on the breeze. So in each heart long-frozen by great fear God plants a mustard seed of faith—faith that a day of joy and grace can yet be our reality. The testimony of God’s Word is clear: “God has dealt to each one a measure of faith” (Rom 12:3). And that means you—you, too—with all your doubts and conflicts, struggles and uncertainties. So pray with me in ever-warming confidence, “Lord, increase our faith.” “He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ” (Phil 1:6). Grace always meets us where we are, but never leaves us where we were. So grow in grace.
