Harold Baptiste, former secretary and vice president of the North American Division, was on his way home from visitation duties during his years as a pastor in the Northeastern Conference. The sight of the sun setting over New York inspired him to write the hymn here presented, which he entitled “City Sabbath.” Trevor Baker, his pastoral colleague and current Northeastern Conference president, composed appropriate music for the hymn.
