After our 3-year-old son, Elijah, was stung by bees that had a nest in our mailbox, I promptly destroyed the bees with a killing spray. The next morning, after family worship, my wife, Heidi, said, “Daddy killed all the bees in the mailbox.”
Elijah quickly asked, “Did the bees die on the cross?”
Heidi responded, “Oh, no; who died on the cross?”
With a big smile Elijah said, “Jesus did!”

Grandpa was visiting his terminally ill wife at Walla Walla General Hospital in Washington when he was informed by the attending physician, a personal friend: “There is nothing more we can do; it is now in the hands of the Lord.”
Grandpa, retired pastor and conference president John W. Christian I, replied, “Then I will expect a bill only from the Lord.”
