She is predeceased by her husband, Walton J. Brown, former General Conference Education Department director. She is survived by her daughter, Margaret Alvarez; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
COOK, LaRue L.—b. Jan. 23, 1920, Bolivar, N.Y.; d. Sept. 19, 2010, Columbus, Miss. He served at Takoma, Greater New York, Battle Creek, and South Lancaster academies. He also served as a pastor and auditor in the trust department of the Michigan Conference. He is survived by his wife, Erma Jane; son, Timothy; daughters, Nancy-Jane Skiwski and Diane Sturges; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
CORRECES, Dalisay L.—b. Jan. 7, 1921, Philippines; d. July 29, 2010, Sebring, Fla. She served as a literature evangelist. She is survived by her sons, Gilbert, Edward, and Jerry; daughter, Dorie Roa; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
HOAG, Clarence James—b. Oct. 17, 1939, Erie, Pa.; d. Aug. 26, 2010, West Helena, Ark. He served as a teacher and literature evangelist in West Virginia, as well as a pastor in North and South Dakota, Louisiana, and Arkansas. He is survived by his wife, Betty; son, Timothy; and daughters, Sharon Carpenter, Karen Thompson, and Erin Redic; a sister, Beverly Stern; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
JUSTESEN, Jerome P.—b. June 6, 1937, Ontario, Canada; d. Aug. 4, 2010, Avon Park, Fla. He served as a teacher at Brazil Adventist College, and as a pastor in the Central California, Greater New York, and Carolina conferences. He is survived by his wife, Marilyn; son, Joe; and two grandchildren.
PETERSEN, Betty G.—b. Nov. 21, 1926, Burt County, Nebr.; d. July 29, 2010, Grand Island, Nebr. She worked at Platte Valley Academy. She was preceded in death by her son, Ronn. She is survived by her husband, Martin; son, Keith; daughters, Joan Bowen and Jeanne Cummings; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
ROE, Cyril E.—b. Nov. 17, 1924, Ripley, England; d. Apr. 7, 2010, Ormand Beach, Fla. He served as principal of Napa Junior Academy, Las Vegas Junior Academy, and Deer park Elementary. He also served in the Education Department of Spicer College, India, and Southern Adventist University. He is survived by his wife, M. Joy; son, Peter; daughter, Vernita Joy Roe; sisters, Monica Norman and Neina Logan; and five grandchildren.
SCALES, William C.—b. July 22, 1915, Charleston, W. Va.; d. June 2010. He served as literature evangelist in the Ohio Conference. He was also an associate publishing director, conference Bible worker, and pastor and field evangelist in Virginia. Along with his wife he founded the Real Truth Associates, Inc., producing Bible courses and evangelistic tools. He is survived by his wife, Myra; son, William, Jr.; three grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
SCOTT, Edgar—b. July 23, 1931, Elva, Ill.; d. Aug. 28, 2010, Sebring, Fla. He worked in the Walker Memorial Hospital as an X-ray technician. He is survived by his wife, Glena; son, David; daughter, Elaine Mandzuk; brother, Kenneth; sister, Mary Govansson; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
VELBIS, Cenon—b. July 30, 1940, Philippines; d. Sept. 6, 2010, Kissimmee, Fla. He served as a medical technician in the Adventist Health System. He is survived by his wife, Carol; sons, Erwin and David; daughters, Esther Willard and Arlene Rogers; seven grandchildren.
