GIVING LIGHT TO OUR WORLD—GLOW—IS AN OUTREACH INITIATIVE IN MULTIPLE NAD
conferences based on the concept of church members carrying Adventist literature with them wherever they go and handing it out—free of charge—at every opportunity. Here are two short stories of lives touched by GLOW:
Story 1: A doctor in Kansas began handing out GLOW literature in nursing homes. At one of the facilities he always would stop and give the front-desk receptionist a piece of literature. One time he handed her a tract that discussed the state of the dead, then he made his rounds and came back and asked her how she liked it. She said, “I can’t believe how much good information is in this and how well written it is!” Because the receptionist found the tract compelling, the doctor asked her if she would be interested in Bible studies. She said yes, and they’ve been studying together for the past few months.
Story 2: Members of an Adventist church in Clovis, California, distributed 6,000 pieces of literature at what was termed a Christian rock concert. A young man named Jeremy, who read the literature at the concert and found contact information on the back of the tract, called the GLOW office. He said he worked at a convalescent home and often read books and other literature to the people who were under his care. He requested more literature for himself as well as for reading to the elderly people he works with. Before he hung up the phone, he signed up for personal Bible studies.
