A little girl was being punished for bad behavior and her parents were making her eat dinner by herself. They paid no attention to her until they heard her pray, by quoting part of Psalm 23: “Thank You, Lord, for preparing ‘a table before me in the presence of my enemies.’”

When we asked our 2-year-old son to pray at bedtime, we expected the usual prayer for protection during the night. However, this time he had a unique but practical prayer request. Would Jesus answer it?
We were getting ready for bed, but the boy was in no mood to give up his request for a drink before bedtime. Both his mom and I were not keen about going back downstairs to prepare his milk, so we hoped to negotiate our way out of his incessant request for a bottle of milk.
Finally, he agreed to get into bed. When asked to pray, his prayer was simple: “Dear Jesus, please get me some milk. Amen!” Spontaneously, Lynne and I burst into laughter at the youngster’s simple request. Needless to say, Mom went to fetch Luendo’s milk bottle.
Later, I pondered the incident, wondering how many people’s unanswered prayers may have been dependent on us! Of course, God has a thousand ways to provide for His children, of which they are unaware (see The Ministry of Healing, p. 481). We cannot limit His power to work out His will using angels (Gen. 19:15, 16), a donkey (Num. 22:28), even stones (Luke 19:40) if necessary. However, although God can do anything, He still desires humans—all of us—to be His hands and feet to take “milk” to those who need it!
