She served as a staff nurse at the Washington Sanitarium in Takoma Park, Maryland, and established the Maternity Department at Kettering Medical Center, Kettering, Ohio. She is survived by her husband, William; son, Garry; daughter, Patti Hall; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
COY, Madeleine E.—b. July 18, 1923, Sioux Falls, S. Dak.; d. Oct. 19, 2009, Walla Walla, Wash. She served as a teacher in academies in Iowa, Arizona, California, and at Union College, Lincoln, Nebraska. She also served in Zambia and Zimbabwe, Africa, for six and a half years. She is survived by her husband, Hugh; daughters Linda Wernick and Joellen Lee; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
FARLEY, Beulah L.—b. June 6, 1917, West Paris, Maine; d. Nov. 18, 2009, Apopka, Fla. She served in the Housekeeping Department at Florida Hospital for 20 years. She is survived by sons Philip, Paul, and Boyce; daughters Phyllis Kimbro and Joyce Yates; 16 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
FETALINO, Carl I.—b. Jan. 14, 1937, Philippines; d. July 28, 2009, Avon Park, Fla. He served at the Manila Sanitarium and Hospital, and also worked in maintenance at the Hinsdale Hospital, Hinsdale, Illinois. He is survived by his wife, Rizalina, and daughters Carriza Lynn and Ivy Mae.
GAMMENTHALER, Charles A.—b. Oct. 10, 1920, Harper, Tex.; d. Nov. 7, 2009, Eustis, Fla. He worked at Florida Hospital for 21 years. He is survived by his wife, Esther; sons Sammy and Robert; daughter, Janice Deaton; sister, Elizabeth McDougall; and four grandchildren.
LIBBY, Vern Rowland—b. June 25, 1918, Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; d. Oct. 9, 2009, Walla Walla, Wash. He spent 40 years teaching in Oregon and Washington Adventist schools. He is survived by his wife, Lorene; sons Ralph and Wayne; daughter, Verdene Libby-Meyer; brothers Kenneth and Dale; sister, Ruth Gowing; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
MILWARD, Arthur Amott—b. Oct. 26, 1923, Derby, England; d. Oct. 28, 2009, Avondale, Australia. He served as a missionary in Kenya, and also as a teacher and editor at Pacific Union College. He is survived by his daughters Veronica and Victoria; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
RUPPENTHAL, Gladys—b. June 15, 1916, Buffalo, N.Y.; d. Nov. 6, 2009, New Port Richey, Fla. She served at the New England Sanitarium and Hospital, Stoneham, Massachusetts. She is survived by her brother, Jacob; and sisters Naomi and Arlene.
SMITH, Shirley M.—b. Mar. 23, 1933, Hamlin, Iowa; d. Sept. 29, 2009, Walla Walla, Wash. She was director of surgical services for 27 years at Florida Hospital-Hartland. She is survived by her son, Bob; daughter, Nancy Haugen; brother, Leo Christensen; sisters Jeanette Foreman and Carol Curry; and five grandchildren.
STILES, Helen L. Hauselt—b. Feb. 28, 1937, Santa Cruz, Calif.; d. Dec. 11, 2009, Walla Walla, Wash. She served for 15 years as a missionary in India. She also worked for 20 years at Pacific Press Publishing Association. She is survived by her son, Marvin; daughter, Rani; sister, Marjorie; and four grandchildren.
